The judging panel is made up of independent representatives from different walks of industry who are active in some way in the Not For Profit sector.

Leigh Garrett - 2002 Winner, Equity Trustees CEO of the Year

Leigh is the CEO of Offenders Aid and Rehabilitation Services SA and has served in this capacity for over 13 years, following 10 years working in various Government agencies. Leigh is a member of the Ministerial Strategic Housing Advisory Committee, a Board Member of SACOSS and Chair of the Australian Crime Prevention Council SA. In 1997 Leigh established the Centre for Restorative Justice in Adelaide. This organisation offers an innovative alternative approach to justice policy and practice.

 

Dean Ireland

After graduating from Melbourne Business School, Dean spent 9 years with General Electric, in Mergers & Acquisitions and line roles including Chief Executive, GE Energy, Australia and as Global Head of Strategic Planning, GE Energy, based in Atlanta USA. He has been with Egon Zehnder International since 2006 and is based in Melbourne.

 

Martine Letts - Deputy Director, Lowy Institute for International Policy

In January 2005, Martine became Deputy Director of the Lowy Institute following four years as Secretary General of Australian Red Cross and 17 years with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She was appointed to the ANU Council in 2004, is a member of the boards of Nonprofit Australia and Austcare.

 

Dr Michael Liffman (BA hons. Melb; M.Sc [Social Admin] London School of Economics; PhD Melb)

Dr Michael Liffman (BA hons. Melb; M.Sc [Social Admin] London School of Economics; PhD Melb) is founding Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Philanthropy and Social Investment at Swinburne University, Melbourne, Australia. The Centre offers professional and academic education in grantmaking, and undertakes research and consulting, in Australia and beyond.

Michael has a background in social policy and research, community work, and philanthropy, and was CEO of one of Australia’s leading private foundations, The Myer Foundation, and President of the Australian Association of Philanthropy. He was a member of the International Network on Strategic Philanthropy. His publications include A Tradition of Giving: Seventy-five Years of Myer Family Philanthropy, (Melbourne University Publishing, 2004).

 

Mary Wooldridge MP - 2002 Winner, Equity Trustees First Year Achiever Award

In 2006 Mary was elected to the Victorian State Parliament representing the seat of Doncaster and appointed is the Liberal Party's Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Women's Affairs, Drug Abuse, Community Services and Ageing.
Mary was previously the CEO of The Foundation for Young Australians, and has had senior roles in Business and Government. Currently Mary is the Deputy Chair of Foundation Boroondara and a Director of The Otis Foundation
